"Oldest Karate School

in

New Hampshire"

In 1968, Master George Chartier moved to New Hampshire to enjoy the country that northern New England has to offer. He started a karate school in Laconia, NH and later moved the school to New Hampton, NH where his students helped to build a new dojo at his home.

Throughout the years Master Chartier has trained many people in the martial arts, including police officers at the NH Police Academy, as well as promoted many black belts. He has run tournaments and put on demonstrations to promote the martial arts and Sikaran to the people of New Hampshire. Although there are many martial arts schools now in NH, the Sikaran Institute of Karate is the oldest. Sikaran students still compete in local (and sometimes not-so-local) tournaments to promote the style of Sikaran to other martial artists.

Master Chartier met and married his wife through Sikaran. Linda "Crane" Chartier has gone on to become a master in the art of Sikaran and mother of their four children. Master Linda Chartier runs the school and devotedly teaches the Philippine martial art of Sikaran.
